The registration is now live! There is a limit for the number of students so don’t wait too long. If people are wanting a spot, and someone else has registered but not paid their deposit, their spot may be forfeited.
This is a workshop for beginners and intermediate students that will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Parish in Lethebridge. We will all write a traditional Byzantine icon of the Theotokos.* This will be painted with egg tempura paints on wooden panels, and gilded with real gold leaf (23k). Intermediate students will have a more detailed icon than the beginners.
I anticipate starting each day (except for Sunday) at 9 am and we will continue through till we decide we are done (probably supper – 6ish). I will be there at least half an hour early, so if you are excited and you want to settle in feel free to come anytime after 8:30 am. Coffee/tea supplies will be available, but you might need to be the one making the pot.
We will supply all the brushes, paints, gilding supplies, boards and more. You do not need to bring any painting supplies unless you wish (such as your favourite paint brush). What I do recommend that you bring is a reusable water bottle/coffee mug (to be environmentally nice), a desk lamp and an extension cord (short) to plug in your lamp with. If you don’t have these things don’t worry.
Dress casually, and remember we will be painting and sanding and making messes. So don’t wear your Sunday best. (But… on Sunday there will be a Divine Liturgy … so you might wish to for that I guess.)
A simple lunch will be provided each day (Likely Soup and Sandwiches). Also there will be fruit and other snacks throughout the day. If you have special dietary needs however, you should probably bring your own lunch.
Cost is $678.50 Canadian, $100 of which is a deposit to be paid asap. The remaining $578.50 can be paid at the beginning of the workshop. Methods of payment are found at the end of the form which can be accessed through the button on the top of this webpage.
